“Τhe colonizing and racializing archaeological work of Hebraism & Hellenism”

What role has antiquity played in nation formation? Two leading scholars have a fascinating conversation comparing the contribution of archaeology to the mythical constitution, racialization, and crypto-colonialism of Israel and Greece. Shedding new light on the Eurocentric models of Hebraism and Hellenism, Greenberg and Hamilakis conduct a masterful critique of purification and idealization, and invite us to envision a decolonizing scholarship that forges activist alliances. Here is my contribution to a panel that presented their dialogical book.
